Pop star Dua Lipa gets Kosovar citizenship

The British singer was born in London as a daughter of Kosovar-Albanian parents. Therefore, she can now look forward to three nationalities.
“Welcome home, Dua”: Pop singer Dua Lipa (29) was awarded the Kosovar citizenship. The fact that it is now also nationals in the Southeast European country complete “the duality that I have always felt in myself. I love this country, and that means a lot to me and my family,” said the singer in a statement in a statement according to the British news agency PA.
Lipa was born in 1995 as the daughter of Kosovar-Albanian parents in London. In 2022 she already received the Albanian citizenship. The Kosovar President Vjosa Osmani, who presented the singer the citizenship at a ceremony on Friday, praised Dua Lipa as “one of the most iconic cultural personalities in the history of our country”.
On Friday, the singer, known for songs such as “Houdini” or “Dance the Night”, also appeared at the Sunny Hill Festival in the Kosovar capital Pristina. There, according to PA, she performed a song in Albanian together with her father. The musician has already won several Grammys and Brit Awards.
