With “Mama”, the Dutch started an international career as a child star in 1967. Now the farewell is threatened with the stage. And above all, there are medical reasons.
The Dutch pop singer Hein “Heintje” Simons is worried about his career. His hearing no longer plays, said the 69-year-old singer of the German Press Agency. “If that doesn’t get any better, I have to hang up singing earlier than I want,” said Simons.
As a 12-year-old, the singer had his big breakthrough in 1967 as “Heintje” entitled “Mama”. It was the beginning of an international career. Simons still has many fans – especially in German -speaking countries. The singer turns 70 on August 12th.
Simons wears hearing aids, but they would only reinforce everything, he said. He lacked the middle tones – an appearance was therefore impossible for him. Now Simons relies on the technology. “Maybe there is still something to do with artificial intelligence.” First, however, Simons canceled all concerts. He only wants to appear again when it is “one hundred percent, otherwise it has no purpose”.
