A judge rejected Sean “Diddy” Combs again. It will remain in custody until October.
Sean “Diddy” Combs (55) will remain behind bars. The responsible judge in New York rejected the renewed application for release from the former hip-hop mogul last Monday. The 55 -year -old was guilty of prostitution in two charges last month – however, he was acquitted of the more serious allegations of sex trade and blackmail.
The judge clearly explained his decision: Combs could not prove that he was entitled to an release. Neither an increase in the deposit nor additional requirements would “change the calculation,” said the judge. He referred to the violence in Combs’ personal relationships, which he had already discussed on the day of the verdict.
The defense of the rapper and producers had already tried in vain to obtain release. All deposits – both immediately after the judgment and after his arrest in September 2024 – were rejected. As the “New York Times” recently reported, an application was recently made to relieve it in the house arrest for a deposit of $ 50 million.
With regard to the controversial detention conditions in the metropolitan detention center in Brooklyn, which are criticized by Combs’ lawyers and by authorities as dangerous and inhumane, the judge admitted an “incident with threatened violence of a fellow inmate”. Nevertheless, the prison staff was able to “protect him and meet his needs”.
Criminal prison in early October
Combs receives ten months crediting for his previous pre -trial detention. The official criminal prison is scheduled for October 3. Until then, the former music tycoon, which was once one of the most powerful characters in the hip-hop industry, remains in the prison in Brookly. Combs threatens up to ten years in prison per indictment point for his conviction. According to preliminary calculations, the public prosecutor assumes a prison sentence between 51 and 63 months – about four to five years. The defendant had declared himself not guilty in all points.
