Singer David Roach died after cancer. His partner Jennifer stood by his side until the end.
The US hard rock band Junkyard mourns the loss of her singer David Roach. The musician died at the age of 59 after skin cancer. “We announce David Roach’s death with great sadness,” it said. After a courageous fight against cancer, he died peacefully at home in his wife’s arms. The band praised him as a “gifted artist, performer, songwriter and singer”, but above all he was “a devoted father, husband and brother”. He let his fans participate in social media in his fight against cancer. Always at his side in the difficult time: Ms. Jennifer, whom he married shortly before his death.
David Roach: “Jennifer keeps everything going”
the band shared a message from the singer at the beginning of the year. “I just have a health problem that I will have to fight for at least a few more months,” said Roach. “My wonderful friend Jennifer works full -time and is also a nanny, brings me to every appointment and keeps everything going.” He had to help keep the two above water, but could not work for a while. Therefore, he creates “a few works of art for sale. I do scrap plot badges, inspiring roosters and other art that I can personalize.”
The band announced at the end of January: “We all know and love David Roach – not only as our incredible singer, but also as a real friend, an inspiration and a fighter. At the moment he is facing one of the hardest fights in his life: an aggressive cancer diagnosis.” In addition to David’s badge of badges, the band will offer the classic merchandise articles for sale, “whereby part of every sale goes directly to David and Jennifer”.
To support the singer, it was announced that Roach suffered from the head, neck and throat on an aggressive squamous cell carcinoma. Last June, the band shared the musician and his partner. For a picture that Roach showed in a hospital bed, it said: “First of all, we would like to thank you all for the overwhelming support and love that you have brought us in this incredibly difficult time.” The two further explained: “After David’s persistent fever and coughing led us into the emergency room, we received results that completely lifted our world out of the fishing.
Band congratulated “Mr. and Mrs. Roach”
According to his partner, David Roach showed “an incredible strength and resilience, and even in the middle of this dark he keeps his sense of humor. This is a memory of how amazing it is. But we know that this journey that lies ahead of us will be extremely hard. David has made it clear that he does not give up hope and we need your love and prayers.”
On July 20, a good news followed in the difficult time: “Congratulations to the happy couple – Mr. and Ms. David Patrick Roach,” the group announced in a post. In one picture you could see David Roach during the ring exchange with his partner. A second photo showed him in a wheelchair with the other band members like guitarist Tim Mosher.
Junkyard was founded in 1987, and initially the separation followed in 1992. In 2000 the group came together again and published the album “High Water” in 2017.
