Heavy metal star Ozzy Osbourne indulged in drugs and alcohol for decades. In 2011 he decided on abstinence. But he probably no longer saved his health.
Ozzy Osbourne died of a heart attack. The reason for this is likely to be a coronary heart disease from which the musician suffered from the death certificate that is present. The one from the document that Osbourne’s daughter Aimée Osbourne is said to have deposited at the London registry office.
The legendary British singer and reality TV star died on July 22nd at the age of 76. As a co -founder of the band Black Sabbath, he was considered one of the first representatives of the genre Heavy Metal.
During his lifetime, Osbourne fought with health complaints, including Parkinson. 2023 told about lengthy health problems and several operations and that he had smoked cannabis. Nevertheless, the singer was confident at the time that he was still alive for a good ten years. Very many were then not granted to him. The coronary heart disease may have been a reason.
Ozzy Osbourne – a risk patient?
During the disease wear or calcify the vessels that supply the heart with oxygen -rich blood. This worsens blood circulation. Depending on how strongly the vessels are calcified, those affected initially notice none of this. Feelings in the chest or shortness of breath are typical symptoms that can occur in physical exhausting activities. If the heart vessels are completely closed, the disease can end life-threatening and, for example, a heart failure, cardiac arrhythm disorders or an infarction.
People with overweight, high cholesterol, diabetes or smokers have an increased risk of coronary heart disease. Because the symptoms are often very weak, the disease is usually discovered late. Depending on how far the disease has progressed in the diagnosis, it can be treated with medication, a cardiac catheter or bypass. In any case, doctors recommend a healthy lifestyle. However, the disease is not curable.
Ozzy Osbounre had given alcohol and drug excesses for several decades. In 2011 he announced that he wanted to do without drugs, alcohol and cigarettes. Among other things, he wanted to quit his voice with smoking – “looking for the stupidest that exists”. For his 64th birthday, the Rock’n’Roller also published a satirical health guide in which he recapitulated his excesses – practically as a warning for his fans. At a show in May 2025, he said his everyday life was characterized by medical controls: “My blood pressure is measured 15 times a day. I have this damn device on my finger. It is a monitor that shows what my heartbeat is.” He also explained that he trains “seven days a week” and went to bed early in the evening.
Last appearance in Birmingham
Three weeks before his death, Osbourne and his band Black Sabbath had again given a concert in the original line -up in Birmingham in 20 years. Black Sabbath’s musicians are considered pioneers of the heavy metal. The band, founded in 1968, sold more than 75 million albums during its decades.
After Osbourne’s death, the band’s music reached the German charts again last week. The “Black Sabbath” classic “Paranoid” from the 70s rose in 70th place in the German Singlecharts. The album of the same name reached 29th place.
