“Archidrama” returns next Monday that celebrates its fifth edition, and extends until August 14 at the Matta Cultural Center of the Embassy of Chile, meeting of new Chilean and Argentine dramaturgies under the general direction of Florence Bendersky and Rodrigo de Diego.
In this exchange, two semimontados of theater works of Chilean origin will be taken by an Argentine director and director: “Topography of tears” of Luis Barrales (Chile) with the direction of Mariana Chaud and “live together” of Carla Romero (Chile) with the direction of Ariel Farace.
There will also be conversations with the playwrights and directors of both countries about the realities of the performing arts on the two sides of the mountain range and the presentation of “Archidrama Invita”, the meeting of new dramaturgies that in 2026 will add Brazil as a participating country, along with Chile and Argentina
This stage of performing arts aims to generate a dialogue between Chile and Argentina, seeking to give way to a territorial corpus, gestated from the theater, where word and image can articulate a new meaning and plot.
Archidrama makes visible their creators and creators to verify that everyone has similarities in their problems, and their stories replicate in the languages that constitute them, sistering thus, on stage, dramatists, playwrights, directors, directors, interpreters and public.
They have been part of the past editions of Archidrama: by Argentina, María and Paula Marul, Francisco Lumerman, Florencia Bendersky, Anahí Ribeiro, Lorena Romanín and Juan Andrés Romanazzi, Emiliano Dionisi and Pilar Ruíz And by Chile: Carla Zuñiga, Bosco Cayo, Juan Pablo Troncoso, Carlos Briones, Gabriela Aguilera, Emilia Noguera Felipe Zambrano, by Argentina and Ana Corbalán next to Pablo Greene For Chile.
On Monday 11 and Wednesday13 at 19 there is “Topography of Tears” of Barrales with direction of Chaud with actions of Ximena Banus, Luciana Lifschitz, Nicolás Levin and Violet Brener. On Tuesday 12 and Thursday, the 14th will be at 19, it will be the turn of “Living Boards” of Romero directed by Farace and performances of Fiorella Cominetti, Tamara Kipper and Julia Zlotnik. The free admission is withdrawn by order of arrival in Tagle Libertador corner.
The selection is carried out by playwrights/directors who, due to their characteristics, are representatives of the new playwrights of their countries. Each participant presents two texts of their authorship to make the selection and curatorship of one of those materials. Then the selected works are assigned. Each participant receives a work from their counterpart from the other country, to carry out a half -site. Thus, the doubles and crossings of texts between the two countries are formed. The and the playwright-director in charge of each assembly, must decide and select the actors and actresses who will interpret the work, being the only requirement that reside in the country of assembly.
It is destined for a month and a half to essays and two functions of each work are organized. In this way, Chilean works will be represented in Argentina with the assembly of the playwright/Argentine director, and Argentine works will be represented in Chile with the assembly of the playwright/Chilean director.
The Chilean meeting will take place in Santiago from October 28 to 29 and works written by those who run: Chaud and Farace will be seen. “In La Huerta”, from the first and “Luisa crashes against her house” of the second will present their semimontados at the Theater of the Catholic University of Chile (UC Theater).
