Wim Wenders’ first critic is his wife
Filmmaker and film critic – that is a special and sometimes exciting relationship. Wim Wenders also sometimes has to face critical judgments.
Filmmaker Wim Wenders is dealing with a difficult to convince critic – his wife. “There are always a few friends I think of and to whom I also show the cut,” he told the German press agency about working on a new film. Conversely, some filmmaker friends also asked him whether he could watch their films in the work process. “Back then, the” new German cinema “started: we showed everything. We were not competitors, we were in the same boat,” said Wenders.
But: “My first critic is always my wife,” said Wenders. However, it rarely left good hair on his works. “It is very difficult to convince you,” said Wenders. “But that’s a good thing!”
Wenders is considered one of the most important directors in Germany (“Buena Vista Social Club”, “Paris, Texas”, “The Heaven over Berlin”, “The American friend”). He turns 80 on Thursday (August 14).
