Duchess Meghan’s first rosé wine was a complete success and quickly sold out. But the successor cannot keep up – why is that?
For Duchess Meghan (44) things may not be as sparkling as hoped when it comes to wine. The wife of Prince Harry (40) had to accept a small damper on August 5 after the start of sales of her brand of her brand: unlike the debut year, the bottles were not sold out in a short time.
While the rosé was out of print with the born 2023 at the beginning of July, the current vintage edition that Meghan brought out the day after her 44th birthday is still available on the website several days after the launch.
Why is Meghan’s new rosé flopping?
There could be several reasons for this: the price – $ 30 per bottle – has remained the same, but they are no longer available individually. Instead, you have to buy them in packages: three bottles for 90 dollars, six bottles for $ 159 or twelve bottles for $ 300. There is also a shipping flat rate of $ 20.
A detail that wine lovers could disturb: The new vintage has a lower alcohol content (13.5 percent) than its predecessor (14.5 percent). For many, the alcohol content in wine is not only an indicator of the “body” and the intensity of the taste, but also as an indication of maturity and style of the year. Depending on the personal preference, a lower value can be perceived as less full -bodied or less complex.
Duchess Meghan is enthusiastic about her wine
Before the launch, Duchess Meghan did not save with praise for her own product. The rosé is “finely balanced, with gentle notes of stone fruit, a slight minerality and a continued departure,” it said in an announcement. On the website it says that the wine is reminiscent of “the best Provencal styles” and is “perfect for the end of summer”.
The launch fell together with Meghan’s 44th birthday. she presented herself with a willow basket filled with flowers and bottles of her new rosé. Her passion for wine is no secret: her set lifestyle blog “The Tig” named her after her favorite red wine tignello. Her preference for Rosé also became clear in the Netflix documentary series “With Love, Meghan”, where she was seen several times with a glass in her hand.
