The former “daily topics” presenter Aline Abboud starts a new chapter: From August she will work for the Ministry of Development.
The former ARD face Aline Abboud (37) changes to federal politics. From August 18, she will take over the management of the press office of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. She confirmed this by shared the ministry’s press release.
New task under SPD Minister
Abboud will work in the team of Minister Reem Alabali-Radovan (SPD). She wrote about the message: “Sometimes you have to change the direction to find your own way.” In addition, she thanked the politician for the trust and declared that she was very much looking forward to “the new task, the great team and the international topics”. Apparently, the career step for the 37-year-old is not quite tangible: “I still can’t believe it,” it said under the post.
Aline Abboud started her media career in 2016 at ZDF as the editor of the news program “Today” and moderator of “Today Xpress”. In politics, however, she is also familiar with, because after her studies she already completed a traineeship in the German Bundestag.
No return to the “daily topics”
In 2021 she moved from ZDF to ARD and took over the successor of Pinar Atalay (47) at the “Daily Topics”. In addition, she moderated at “Tagesschau-Nachrichten” and “Tagesschau24”.
In November 2024, Abboud announced that after the birth of her first child, not to return to the “daily topics” as planned. As the reason, she cited private changes, in the meantime she had moved her center of life to Berlin. However, the programs are recorded in Hamburg.
