Summer is pure stress for them: perfume and cosmetics remain fresh for a long time even at high temperatures.
As much as we love the warm months, sun, heat and moisture can become a real stress test for cosmetics and perfume. If you are stored wrong your favorite products in summer, you risk tipping fragrances, creams losing their full effect or make-up becomes unusable and crumbly. With a few simple tricks, perfume, lipstick and other beauty products remain for a long time even at high temperatures.
Bathroom? Rather not!
For many, the bathroom is the obvious place to store beauty products – but in fact often the worst. Heat and high air humidity add make-up and care. Powder, eyeshadow or blush in particular can clump by water vapor or, in the worst case, even mold. Even mascara and eyeliner do not like damp environments. Better: keep products in a dry, cool room, for example in a drawer in the bedroom.
Protection against sunlight is mandatory
UV rays can destroy the ingredients of creams, serums and lipsticks. They should therefore be stored dark and at room temperature as constant. Window sons or open shelves in the bathroom are taboo. Covered boxes made of metal or plastic are ideal, which also protect against light.
Sun protection products: observe durability
Suncreams and after-sun products should be stored particularly carefully in summer, as heat and light weaken the UV filter. The rule of thumb is: sun protection is durable for about a year. If you want to be on the safe side, you can store it cool and darkly and best dispose of it from the previous season.
Perfume: It is best to cool and dark
As seductive as it is to place beautiful flakons decorative in the bathroom: heat, light and moisture let fragrances tip over faster. Perfume lasts the longest when it is stored in a cool, dark drawer or in a closet. In midsummer, even the refrigerator can be an option to slow down the aging of the fragrance oils – provided it is not too damp and not too cold. For travel, mini caterpillars or small bottles are ideal so that the original remains protected at home.
Nail polish: Not in the fridge!
Nail polish, on the other hand, does not belong in the fridge because the cold can change the consistency. It is important that the vials are always well closed to prevent drying out. Here, too, a dark closet or a small box is the best storage location.
If you keep perfume and cosmetics in summer, you can significantly extend the durability. The basic rules are simple: cool, dry, dark – and never in the immediate sun or in the damp bathroom. So the favorite fragrance remains intense and the make -up in top form – far beyond summer.
