For decades, Peter Weck delighted an audience of millions. However, he has suffered from the consequences of a stroke since 2022. He receives encouraging words from his former TV partner for his birthday.

A crowd favorite Peter Weck sometimes loses an overview after seven decades of acting career. The Austrian said about his 95th birthday of the “Bild”. “95 years – an extremely grateful gift! I played so many roles that I sometimes forget who I am actually. But I know one thing for sure: I was always there with heart and persistent curiosity.”

Weck was on stage until a few years ago. In 2022, however, he suffered a stroke. Since then he has been dependent on a wheelchair and care.


A parade role Wecks is still the ZDF series “I marry a family” (1983-1986). At that time, Thekla Carola Wied (81) played the second leading role in the entertainment series around a West Berlin patchwork family.




Even 40 years later, the TV couple is still friendly. Wied wished the successful actor, director and author via “Bild” a long life: “Dear Peter, you have always suspected that your genes would make a long life possible. (…) If you like, manually control the 100,” wrote the 81-year-old acting colleague.


Great presence and great influence


Since the 1950s, the native of Viennese has often been a mischievous “Lausbub type” in around 150 film and TV productions. On television he directed many programs himself. He was also often seen on the large theater stages in Vienna, Salzburg, Munich, Hamburg and Berlin.

Weck achieved particular importance with his role in “musical fever” in Germany and Austria. As an director, he was the first to bring the success musical “Cats” to a German -language stage in Vienna and thus triggered a boom.
