Joe Perryhistorical guitarist of Aerosmithhas stopped fans’ illusions about a possible new tour, saying that Steven Tyler “He can’t” and “he doesn’t want.”
The Rock icons announced their sudden withdrawal of the tours in August 2024, after leader Steven Tyler suffered a serious injury to the vocal cords.
The last live show of the band was made as part of its tour “Peace out “which began in 2023, but only saw the band play three shows.
Although there are no longer scheduled tours for the band, since then they have managed to perform a sporadic concert. In February, Tyler returned to the stage for a charity event where he performed several classics of Aerosmithas “Walk This Way”, “Dream On” and “Sweet Emotion”. This was followed by a similar event in April, where Tyler and Perry gathered on stage for the first time in two years.
Then, Tyler appeared in the farewell show of Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbathwhich took place in Birmingham on July 5 and had a cast full of stars.
In that event, he formed a supergroup with Tom Morello, Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones and Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme, Rudy Sarzo of Quiet Riot and Travis Barker of Blink-182and interpreted the blues of the 50s “Train Kept A Rollin”. Then, he played again at the farewell concert, joining strength with the leader of Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Corgan, Sammy Hagar and others for a potpourri of “Walk This Way” and “Whole Lotta Love” of Zeppelin LED.
What Joe Perry said about a possible Aerosmith tour
Now, guitarist Joe Perry has put a brake on the hopes of a full -fledged return of Aerosmith, and said that, although an occasional show may still be possible, there is few chances of announcing a tour.
“I bet that there is still a aerosith concert”he declared Wbur. “There has been talk of making a documentary; it could be part of it. I have been spending a lot of time with Steven and simply does not want to go on tour, nor can it do it“
It is hard. I don’t know if I would like to go out to reserve another tour of 40 cities. It is a long road to the top and staying there leaves you exhausted, especially with a spray tour, ”he added.
The comments follow what Perry said in an appearance in Trunk Nation of Sirius XM last month, suggesting that the members were in conversations about a return to the stage.
“I know there must be at least another Aerosmith concertand I don’t really want to build the list of songs for that, but I don’t know, man. We’ll see, “he said.
