Billy Joel has a passion for music and motorcycles. His collection includes more than 75 vehicles. Now he separates from them. He also has to shorter musically.
After diagnosing a brain disease, pop legend Billy Joel auctions its numerous motorcycles. “Due to a recent medical diagnosis, Billy will auction his motorcycle collection this year,” said his press spokesman on Wednesday. Joel’s extensive collection is exhibited in a shop in the city of Oyster Bay on Long Island in the US state of New York and can be viewed free of charge on weekends.
The US singer will not extend the rental agreement for the “20th Century Cycles” shop after its end at the end of September, the spokesman continued. According to the store’s website, Joel’s collection comprises more than 75 motorcycles.
Billy Joel has to cancel all concerts
Joel has been known in pop music and for his preference for motorcycles since the 1970s, which also play a role in several of his video clips. Older models, for example from the 1940s, were particularly impressed by him, as the singer explains in an advertising video himself.
The singer had had to cancel several concerts in May because of the illness. “Billy Joel has announced that all planned concerts can be canceled due to the recently diagnosed normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH),” said the 76-year-old star’s website.
The disease he diagnosed had worsened by the recent appearances. There was “hearing, visual and balance problems”, it said.
Appearances in the UK and the USA were affected by the cancellations. His planned US tour should actually lead him across the United States from July to July 2026 – it was completely deleted.
Billy Joel became known with hits like “We Didn’t Start the Fire”, “Piano Man” and “Uptown Girl” worldwide.
