The Swedish royal family always completes a bulging program. Countless appointments lead the royals across Sweden and abroad to represent the royal family. But now that the second half of August traditionally marks the return to the official obligations, a prominent face is missing: Princess Sofia.

While King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia have already taken on her usual tasks and crown princess Victoria with Prince Daniel also appeared on the first appointments, Prince Carl Philip and especially his wife Sofia shine with absence. Prince Carl Philip without Sofia will be released at the traditional parliamentary opening on September 9th in Stockholm. This emerges from the official diary of the royal family.

The reason for this unusual gap is obvious: the prince couple became a parents for the fourth time a few months ago. Her daughter, Princess Ines, experienced her first summer at Sollid Castle in Öland – and apparently the family time should last a little longer than usual.

This decision clearly bears the handwriting of King Carl Gustaf himself. The monarch consciously grants his son and his wife the freedom that they need as a newly baked four-time parent. A gesture that shows again: Family and children have top priority in this royal family.

Carl Philip had already made it clear in previous interviews where his priorities were. “We are incredibly family -oriented. We want to be an active part in our children’s life, and that was extremely important to us since the first day,” the prince told the. This attitude is now shown in practice: While other family members have already switched to work mode again, Carl Philip and Sofia consciously take more time for their children. “This is also a way not to work to death,” added the prince at the time.

Johan T. Lindwall, editor -in -chief of the magazine “Svensk Damtidning”, sees nothing unusual in this decision. On the contrary: he is convinced that the small family in her villa in Stockholm has an almost perfect life. “I think they live most carefree from everyone in the royal family,” analyzes the expert. “You have your core family in this fantastic house on Djurgården and make some representation in between.” This balance between royal duties and private life seems to work optimally for the couple.

Nobody surprises that Sofia and Carl Philip take a particularly extensive summer break this year. The Swedish nobility expert emphasizes that this decision is by no means a sign of problems or inconsistencies. Rather, it reflects the modern approach of the younger generation of the royal family to try to bring family and work into a healthy balance.

According to the official statements of the Swedish royal family, Sofia’s schedule is empty until further notice. It is expected that it will stay in maternity leave or parental leave at least until the end of 2025. On April 30th, Sofia showed himself at the birthday parade of her father -in -law, in June the little girl was baptized with his family.

Sofia and Carl Philip celebrated their tenth wedding day this year. Prince Alexander was born in April 2016, Prince Gabriel in August 2017, Prince Julian in March 2021 and Baby Ines followed on February 7 of this year.
