Leonardo DiCaprio celebrated his 50th birthday in 2024. However, he felt emotionally like 35, he explained in an interview.

Leonardo DiCaprio (50) feels a lot younger than he is. In one, Paul Thomas Anderson asked the Hollywood star: “If you didn’t know how old you are, how old would you be?” DiCaprio Knapp replied: “32”. He is also younger on an emotional level. He said that he had turned “emotional 35” last year and not 50 years old.

He doesn’t want to waste any more time

The director also asked him if his 50th birthday made him think. “Well, the feeling arises that you just want to be more honest and don’t want to waste time. I can only imagine how the next decades will develop,” said DiCaprio. He takes his mother Irmelin Indenbirken (82) as an example that “simply says what she thinks and wastes time. She wastes no time to play something.”

He is therefore more open and take the risk “that things break apart, disagrees or one separates in some kind of relationship in life – be it private or professional.” It is “almost a duty” to be more open, “since you have had much more of your life than in front of you”.

This is regretted by Leonardo DiCaprio

In the interview, the Oscar winner also revealed what he regretted the most in his career. For him it was not to have played in Anderson’s “Boogie Nights”. “It was an important film of my generation,” he said and praised Mark Wahlberg (54). DiCaprio could imagine nobody else than Wahlberg in the role of Dirk Diggler. “When I finally saw the film, I just thought it was great,” he added.

Instead, Leonardo DiCaprio became known for his portrayal of Jack Dawson in “Titanic”. He had other big roles in Martin Scorseses (82) “The Wolf of Wall Street” and in the western strip “The Revenant – The Return”. For the latter, he was honored as the best main actor in 2016 with his only Oscar. In 2025 he took over the leading role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s thriller “One Battle After Another”, which will start in the cinemas on September 25th.
