Tom Kaulitz has been married to Heidi Klum for six years and marriage is still experiencing age discrimination. The musician takes a breath of his anger.
Even six years after their wedding, Heidi Klum and Tom Kaulitz’s relationship are regularly reduced to the age difference. A fact that now really brings the musician to the palm. In the latest episode of the podcast, Tom Kaulitz talks to his brother Bill about a headline of the British news portal “Daily Mail”, in which he was described as a 35-year-old “Boy Toy” husband. “It’s a cheek or not?”, Kaulitz, who had recently recently raved about his married life.
He finds the term particularly absurd in view of the occasion of the article, the sixth wedding anniversary: “Boy Toy would at most be said if you somehow just have a fling.” Bill Kaulitz agrees: “So, you’ve been out of Boy Toy for a long time.”
Tom Kaulitz complains about “Age Shaming”
Kaulitz ‘central criticism is the media fixation. “And then there is this agge shaming! Is that still okay? Why can you still do it that way to always write this ‘Fifty-Two’ behind it and this ‘Thirty-Five’ for me?” He emphasizes: “You can’t do anything for your age. It’s not cool at all!”
Bill Kaulitz sees an expression of a lack of seriousness in the ongoing age debate: “It is still not taken seriously. If you take a younger man or a younger woman, it is always laughed at.” His brother, in turn, questions the long -term debate: “Let’s say in 20 years – will this age topic still be an issue? I will never catch up, it will always remain the same.” When Bill Kaulitz confirms that media will probably ride around it permanently, Tom is scarce: “That is ridiculous.”
The age difference of 16 years between Heidi Klum and Tom Kaulitz – she was 44 years old, he 28, when they met – has been publicly discussed since the beginning of their relationship in 2018. Kaulitz ‘Current outbreak makes it clear: For him, this fixation is no longer a harmless marginal remark, but an expression of a socially accepted but outdated pattern of age discrimination.
