In a new interview, Emma Heming Willis describes how she reacted to the dementia diagnosis of husband Bruce Willis.
In a new interview, Emma Heming Willis (47) once again speaks openly about the dementia diagnosis of her husband Bruce Willis (70) – and about how the family deals with the difficult situation. the 46-year-old remembers the moment when she learned about the diagnosis.
“I was in panic, and I only remember that I heard it – and after that nothing more,” she describes in the interview, which is broadcast on August 26th at the US broadcaster ABC as part of the program “Emma & Bruce Willis: The Unexpected Journey”, and adds: “It was like I was in free fall.”
The Hollywood star, known from films such as “Die Slow” (1988), was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) – a form of disease that can change the personality and lead to conspicuous changes in behavior. As a result of the diagnosis, Willis withdrew from the public. However, the actor’s family regularly shares insights and updates.

EMMA Heming Willis in particular regularly speaks publicly about the challenges of nursing for her husband and draws attention to the support that also urgently need relatives. She has now also processed her experiences in a book: “The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope and Yourself on the Caregiving Path” will be released in the USA on September 9th and in Germany on November 12th.
Asked by Sawyer what love means for her, Heming Willis said in an interview: “Love is beautiful. She is big, she is unconditionally. I am so lucky to feel love.”
In addition to the two daughters together with Emma Heming Willis, Bruce Willis is also the father of three adult daughters – Rumer, Scout and Tallulah – from his marriage to actress Demi Moore (62).
