In a special edition over the 1990s, Alicia Silverstone remembers her beginnings with Aerosmith and “Clueless”.

No teenager from the nineties passed the film “Clueless” and therefore not to Alicia Silverstone (48), who embodied the leading role of Cher Grandios. In a nineties edition, she remembers her great success and beginnings in Hollywood.



When the native North Californian moved to Los Angeles in her early teenage years, Silverstone initially didn’t have easy it and had to audition “every day” at castings. “But I didn’t get anything,” she reports of the first few months in Hollywood.

But at the age of 14, she won her first role in an episode of “wonderful years” in 1992. Next year she received attention worldwide thanks to her leading role in “The Beast” and her appearances in the first two and “Amazing”. “I didn’t even know who Aerosmith was when I was asked to turn the videos because I was just 16 years old,” Silverstone admits in an interview. She also reveals about the iconic flannel shirt and the wide jeans that she wears in the video for “Cryin ‘” on the highway overpass: “This outfit belonged to my friend, a French hairdresser in Beverly Hills, with whom I was much older than me.”


“I had Fomo during filming”

In 1995 “Clueless” came. She has great memories of the filming and the line -up – although as the main actress, she didn’t have as much fun as her colleagues. “We definitely worked well together. I had a bit of Fomo while filming,” she recalls and means the “Fear of Missing Out”, the fear of missing something. Because she had to be there in every scene, the job was full -time for her. “But they all had so much fun.”




The costume designer Mona May also enjoyed her: “If you look at the film today, so many years later, every single costume deserves applause. Shortly before ‘Clueless’, Grunge was announced – hence the Aerosmith videos in which I wear flannel shirts, wide jeans and boots. Together.

The film played over $ 56 million worldwide on the box office – with production costs of $ 12 million. The success led to the further development of the film to a television series (1996) and a musical (2018).
