Sean Kingston has to go to prison for three and a half years due to fraud. His mother had already been sentenced to five years.
Jamaican rapper Sean Kingston (35) was sentenced to three and a half years in prison on Friday after a month -long procedure. The reason: fraud in the millions.
In court, the 35-year-old apologized and assured that he had learned from his mistakes. Nevertheless, the judge rejected an application from Kingston’s lawyer and ordered the immediate arrest. Under the eyes of those present, he was led out of the courtroom in handcuffs.
Already in March, both Kingston and his mother Janice Eleanor Turner were found guilty in four charges of the transfer fraud and conspiracy to inspect transfer fraud. Turner had already been sentenced to five years in prison last month – significantly less than the maximum possible 20 years that were threatened.
Tears around the mother
When his mother’s conviction became known, Kingston burst into tears. He urged the police officers to “protect” his mother. While Kingston was allowed to stay at home until the verdict was pronounced, a escape risk was found at Turner and taken into account.
The mesh of the mother-son duo was to pretend for years to make bank transfers for high-priced articles such as jewelry or luxury vehicles without actually paying. Among other things, the two are said to have obtained jewelry worth almost $ 500,000 and a Cadillac Escalade worth $ 160,000 and other luxury goods.
During the trial, Turner admitted to having handled her son’s finances irresponsibly. The machinations flew up when a Swat team of Kingston stormed in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in May 2024.
Instagram message after the arrest
During the ongoing investigation, the “Beautiful Girls” interpreter tried to calm its fans. “People love negative energy!” He wrote on Instagram at the time. “I and my mother are fine! My lawyers take care of everything while we are talking.” This confidence now turned out to be wrong.
