Drake Bell: “Drake & Josh” star applied for divorce

More than two years after his wife Janet Bell in Los Angeles submitted the divorce, ex-children’s star Drake Bell (39) is now following. The “Drake & Josh” actor officially applied for divorce in Seminole County, Florida on Thursday.

Accordingly, online court documents show that Bell submitted the petition itself. So far, no further details have been known. This gives new movement into a process that has so far stalled.

Because in the case of Janet Bell’s original application, there was hardly any progress for a long time. It was not until December 2024 that a court ordered that both parties should meet for a conversation to accelerate the procedure. What came out of this is unclear.

With Drake Bell’s parallel application, the already complex divorce process could continue to complain. It remains to be seen whether the two applications are brought together or negotiated separately.

Unlike in Germany, where a single divorce application is usually sufficient, family law in the United States varies from state to state. Both Janet and Drake have the opportunity to submit an application in the state in which they live or stay longer. This also explains why Janet started her procedure in California, while Drake is now following in Florida. Such parallel procedures are not unusual in the United States and can provide additional delays, as which the court is responsible.

Drake and Janet Bell said yes after five years of relationship. The two have a son together. The couple separated in September 2022, in April 2023 Janet Bell submitted the divorce.

Drake Bell, who became internationally famous through the Nickelodeon series “Drake & Josh” in the mid-2000s, had repeatedly caused negative headlines in recent years: financial problems led him to private bankruptcy in 2014, plus several arrests for alcohol at the wheel.

In 2021, he was also guilty in the United States for “attempting children” and “Distribution of harmful content to minors” after sent a 15 -year -old news – the judgment was two years of probation and social lessons.

In 2023, Bell was reported to be missing at times, but reappeared safely a little later, which put his mental constitution in public interest. At the same time, he spoke in a much -noticed documentary experiences in his youth at Nickelodeon, which still shape him today. Bell now tries part of his restart in Mexico, where he has had a great fan base for years and is more artistically active than in the United States.
