He was world-famous as a “Superman” evil General Zod: Now Terence Stamp has died at the age of 87.
The British actor Terence Stamp (1938-2025) died at the age of 87. This was confirmed by his family. Accordingly, he died on Sunday morning, and a cause of death was not announced.
“He leaves an extraordinary life’s work, both as an actor and as a writer that will touch people for many years,” says a family statement.
The Stamp, born in London, was considered one of the most charismatic actors in the British cinema in the 1960s. He embodied numerous unforgettable roles for over six decades and was particularly well known by his portrayal of the super villain General Zod in the “Superman” films of the 1970s and 1980s.

However, his talent went far beyond blockbusters: for his film debut as a sailor Billy Budd in Peter Ustinov’s “The Damned of the Seas” (1962), he was nominated for the Oscar as the best supporting actor and won the Golden Globe as the best young actor. For his leading role in “Der Fänger” he was recognized as the best actor at the Film Festival in Cannes in 1965.
In addition, Stamp was to be seen in classics such as “The Mistress of Thornhill” (1967), “Prosecutors are not kissed” (1986), “Wall Street” (1987), the cult film “Priscilla – Queen of the Desert” (1994) or in “Operation Walkünde – Das Stauffenberg -Antattat” (2008). Most recently, he was in front of the camera for the horror thriller “Last Night in Soho” (2021).
Terence Stamp does not leave children. In 2002 he married for the first time at the age of 64. In 2008 he divorced Elizabeth O’Rourke by the 35 -year younger.
