The most successful start of a German film since 2019: In 2001, the cult predecessor attracted more people to the cinema in the first few days, but the numbers of Bully’s new film are impressive.
Michael “Bully” Herbig’s return to the Wild West is enthusiastic about the cinema audience: Around 800,000 spectators have looked at “The Canoe of Manitu” in the first four days since the theatrical release. It is an extraordinary value that catapulted the comedy in first place in the cinema charts, as Constantin Film said.
In recent years, very few German productions have managed to put such start numbers. It is therefore the most successful start of a German film since 2019.
For comparison: The predecessor film “The Shoe des Manitu”, which became a huge audience hit and surprise success, watched even more people in 2001 – around 950,000, as the dpa news agency wrote at the time.
Abahachi (Michael Herbig) and his blood brother Ranger (Christian Tramitz) come back into turbulent wildwest turmoil in “the canoe of the Manitu”. Abachi’s twin brother Winnetouch and Rick Kavanian as Dimitri are also back. This time you have to find a canoe with magical powers and defend yourself against various fieslings.
