DSDS made him famous, as a singer he earned millions. But with his private life, Pietro Lombardi always makes headlines. Now his fiance has separated.
It has been 14 years since Pietro Lombardi became known for the RTL program “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”. In 2011 he won the eighth season of the casting show. And not only that: In the second -placed Sarah Engels, he also found his wife. Lombardi and Engels were considered a dream couple of the music industry for five years, they stood on stage together and gave insights into their private life in TV documentary. Until the dirty separation in autumn 2016. At that time there was a police operation in a couple’s apartment. There were allegations of domestic violence in the room, Engels filed a complaint.
Nine years later, there were again allegations of violence against Pietro Lombardi. In October 2024, a police operation took place in the house, which he inhabited together with his fiance Laura Maria Rypa in Cologne. Rypa was treated in the Cologne University Hospital. In a common statement, the couple announced: “The press tries to tighten the conflict even more and often does not take it with some statements. We do not want that, so we will not offer this platform here and act in the interests of our children, so that the public is kept out.”
Lombardi’s lawyer said: “There were disagreements associated with both side insults. As part of this emotional argument, there were also mutual touch.” He rejected the allegation of domestic violence.
Not a year later, the couple is separated. As Laura Maria Rypa announced on Sunday, the two “separate ways” will go in the future.
