Scandal about the steps son and a mandatory date in front of the cameras: Crown Prince Haakon first spoke to Marius.

Crown Prince Haakon von Norway (52) for the first time publicly commented against his stepson Marius Borg Høiby (28). One day after the Oslo public prosecutor announced the indictment against him, Haakon was dutiful on Tuesday.

The 52-year-old opened the renowned trade fair “Aqua Nor 2025” in Trondheim at 11:30 a.m. and gave the Norwegian press the first opportunity to publicly experience him after the complaint became known the day before.

Clear statement by Haakon

Haakon used the stage for a clear but at the same time careful statement: “Now it is clear what the indictment is. Now it is up to the court to decide on the outcome,” quotes him. “

When asked how much the affair burdened his family, he remained: “We focus on fulfilling our tasks as much as possible.” Then he added: “For everyone who is involved in this matter, this is undoubtedly a challenging and difficult situation.”

This should above all mean his wife Mette-Marit, who celebrates her 52nd birthday on August 19. The Norwegian palace marked this.

On Monday evening, the royal family reacted with a short statement to the known charge: “It is up to the courts to deal with this case and to make a decision,” cited the public service broadcast NRK from it.

This is accused of Marius Borg Høiby

Høiby is accused of a total of 32 crimes, including several rapes. The public prosecutor’s office Oslo announced this at a convened press conference on Monday. According to NRK, prosecutor Sturla Henriksbø spoke of four alleged rapes of different women.

Accordingly, you can expect a six -week process that could probably start in early 2026. The possible maximum penalty is ten years in prison.

The eldest son of Mette-Marit comes from a previous relationship. Although he is part of the family, he does not play an official role in the Norwegian royal family. Mette-Marit has been married to Haakon since 2001, together they have two children: Princess Ingrid Alexandra (21), who recently started her studies in Sydney Australian, and Prince Sverre Magnus (19).
