The fact that Selenskyj recently appeared in the suit, many consider many to be a symbol that the Ukrainian president is bent before Trump. An error, as the model review shows.
It was on February 24, 2022, when the world Wolodymyr Selenskyj last saw a suit, white shirt and tie. It was the day on which Russia attacked Ukraine. At that time, Selenskyj took off his typical politician. But instead of an elite general suit with a badge and pomp, he chose the simplest clothing of the war wardrobe: olive-colored T-shirts and sweaters, army trousers, plus coarse combat boots. The message to his soldiers and the Ukrainian people: I am one of you.
Selenskyj is certainly not a fashion fan, but as a former actor he knows about the power of strong pictures and uses the visual message of his clothing. This is not only a sign of resistance, but also symbolizes the greatest possible contrast to politicians who are in safe sitting in their dark, chic suits. But his army clothing always makes war real.
Selenskyj: war fashion with message
In the past three years since the beginning of the war, Selenskyj has often been seen in Tarn-Oliv, occasionally also in neutral black. You almost got used to your look, but until the scandal was scanded in Washington in early 2025. At that time he had traveled to the United States to talk to Donald Trump about the war. But the US President, even known for his poorly fitting suits and the much too long red ties, emphasized his army clothing about Selenskyj’s army. At the time, the US media said that the Ukrainian president’s elevator was disrespectful and an insult.
The fact that Selenskyj appeared in a black suit during his second visit to Washington, many evaluated that the Ukrainian president was bent before Trump. It is not the first time that Selenskyj exchanged his army pants and shirts for a two -part. Already at the funeral of Pope Francis, he dressed according to the dress code and let his compatriot, the Ukrainian designer Viktor Anisimov, tailor a simply black suit with a suitable shirt.
Selenskyj will probably continue to avoid two clothing. A tie and a blossom white shirt. According to an interview with the “Spiegel”, the designer is certain that the world will only see the president again when the war has ended. ”
