David Byrne has apparently got engaged with his partner Mala Gaonkar. The musician also revealed this in an interview.
Musician David Byrne (73) would like to say yes again. The former talking heads front man apparently got engaged with his partner, US entrepreneur Mala Gaonkar (55). He announced this in an interview.
The conversation was actually about his album “Who is the Sky?”, Which will be released on September 5, and the song “Moisturizing Thing”. Byrne said: “My fiancee sometimes comes to me with oily hands, ready to apply my face. And at some point I thought: ‘What if I wake up and really look younger?'” The song is about how people judge each other.
According to “The Times”, Byrne and Gaonkar live together in New York. Since when exactly the two have been a couple, it is not known. Already in 2016 they worked together on an immersive theater performance for the Stanford Art Institute. Over the years, they were repeatedly seen together at events, around 2023 at the Oscars.
Second marriage for both
It would be the second marriage for both. The Grammy, Oscar and Tony Prize winner was married to actress Adelle Lutz (76) from 1987 to 2004, with whom he had a daughter born in 1990.
Mala Gaonkar was previously married to the German businessman Oliver Haarmann, with whom she has two sons. He is said to be the new partner of Hollywood star Reese Witherspoon.
