Almost 80 million calls for new “Wednesday” episodes

“Wednesday” with Jenna Ortega is the most successful English-language Netflix series. Season two goes staggered online. After a good ten days, many have already watched the first four episodes.
Mystery comedy Combined with coming-of-age fabric runs well, as the second season of the Addams Family spin-off series “Wednesday” shows. On August 6th, the series of cultural director Tim Burton (“Beetlejuice”) went to her second season. So far there has been episode 1 to 4. Part two of the second season (episode 5 to 8) follows on September 3.
In the first eleven days, Netflix already registered 79.1 million calls for the four – 50 million between August 6 and 10 and 29.1 million between August 11 and 17.
The Netflix series “Wednesday” about the daughter of the Addams Family quickly developed into a global pop culture phenomenon after the start in 2022.
The mixture of thriller, fantasy and black humor hit a nerve, especially among the young audience. Netflix gives a whopping 252 million calls for the first 91 online days of the first season.
Jenna Ortega became a world star as a Wednesday
The main actress Jenna Ortega (now 22 years old) became a superstar with the series. The series received two Golden Globes and four Emmys. Ortega received one as the best leading actress.
The series is about Wednesday Addams’ time at the Nevermore Academy, a school for outsiders with special skills.
Wednesday discovered her visual skills in season one and was confronted with a mysterious series of murder. In season two, new mysterious occurrences and dangers lurk. In addition, her brother Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) is now also NEEMORE students.
Star contingent with Buscemi, Lloyd and Lumley
Wednesday’s parents Morticia and Gomez Addams are embodied by Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán. New in season two is Steve Buscemi (“The Big Lebowski”) as an ambitious headmaster.
“Back to the future” star Christopher Lloyd, who played uncle in the two “Addams Family” films in the 1990s, is Professor Orloff-or rather his head. The British icon Joanna Lumley (“absolute fabulous”) plays Wednesday’s rich, sharp -tongued grandmother Hester Frump.
Already 87 years ago, an Addams Family cartoon was published for the first time in the magazine “The New Yorker”. The first series followed in the 1960s, which is now a TV classic.
After various series and films, the Addams tradition is now continuing with “Wednesday” and inspires a new generation. The third season has already been confirmed.
