Austria’s capital organized the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015. Now the metropolis prevails again in the host race. The schedule for the ESC 2026 has now also been determined.
Vienna is again hosting the Eurovision Song Contest. The 70th edition of the music event will take place in Vienna again next year after the ESC has been held in the Austrian capital. This was announced by the public service broadcaster ORF as organizer. The final will take place on May 16. The Austrian singer JJ had won the Swiss city of Basel 2025 in the Swiss city of Basel. That is why the 2026 music competition takes place in neighboring Alpineland. Conchita Wurst won for Austria in 2014, in 1966 Udo Jürgens – even then the Grand Prix then took place in Vienna.
Innsbruck is subject to Vienna
In the race for the venue next year, Vienna prevailed against Innsbruck.
The federal capital with around 2 million inhabitants applied under the motto “Europe, Shall We dance?” (“Europe, should we dance?”). Vienna relied on his ESC experience, its infrastructure and many hotel beds, but the smaller Innsbruck had tried to bring his spectacular location in the middle of an alpine backdrop with the slogan “Together on Top” (“Together”).
