Moderator Charlotte Potts has made her breast cancer diagnosis public. On Instagram she speaks of a long way to recovery.
TV presenter Charlotte Potts (39) has made her serious illness public: the journalist has breast cancer. “Diagnosis: breast cancer. And suddenly life is head,” she writes about several pictures that they show in the hospital. “Of course you always hope that it is something else, harmless. Something that disappears with antibiotics,” it continues. She was still in the provision three months ago. This is also the case with many other patients.
“Why me?”
“In the first few days I asked myself: Why I?”, She says. Then her doctor explained to her that every seventh woman suffered from breast cancer. The shock was still great, but there was no time to think. “I was already hanging on the drip,” reports Potts. For two weeks now she has been treated with carboplatin weekly, which she should “make healthy again”. “The way there is long,” she emphasizes.
Also because of her profession, she will “share a piece of this world to me,” explains the moderator. “I am also firmly convinced that many things get easier when you share them.” Her job has to “wait for a while”, encouraging messages are welcome. So far, over 300 people have left embassies. In her Instagram story, Potts also thanks her family and friends who “carry them through the next few months”.
She works as a chief reporter for politics
Charlotte Potts started her media career with a degree in journalism and politics in Washington, DC before she studied history, psychology and economy in Freiburg. After her time at ZDF and at the ARD in the US capital, she was active as a political correspondent at the Deutsche Welle in Berlin and later in London. By 2022 she worked as a moderator of the “ZDF morning magazine” for around five years. Since 2022 she has been devoting herself to political events as chief report at ProSiebenSat.1 in Berlin.
