Austin Butler: “I thought I would die”

In “The Bikididers”, Austin Butler (34) mimed the tough bikers. But before the filming he feared for his life, the “Elvis” mime now admitted in a big interview on his new film “Caugh Stealing” in the American. He almost died before turning the drama over a motorcycle club in Chicago. At least the Golden Globe winner seemed like this.

During a flight, he was temporarily blind, the celebrated actor told the men’s magazine. Shortly before landing, a terrible migraine attack “torn out of sleep”. “It felt like life was sucked out of my body,” Butler remembered the loss of his eyesight. He was blind for several minutes. “I suddenly felt an overwhelming feeling and actually thought I would die.”

The actor told the magazine that he “forced his eyesight back”. After this had happened, he went to the set instead of digesting the shock and resting. The dutiful 34-year-old attributed the incident to a ‘side effect of sleep deprivation’.

Already in conversation with the in 2023 he spoke about the dangers of the set of “The Bikeriders” and how he could have lost his eyesight: “If we drove motorcycle in groups of 40 people on a narrow street, you thought: ‘If someone falls now, we all fall.’ And we didn’t wear any helmets and drove as fast as we could through corn fields, “he recalled. “And you drive behind a film car that hurls the pebble stones in the face so that you can get stones in your eyes. It was really very intense.” Butler laughed: “To be honest, I don’t know how you insured the film.”
