Cumberbatch and Colman: Ehedrama threatened their friendship

Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman have known and appreciate themselves for many years. But then they had to shred quite a bit for the film “The Rose Battle”. Did your friendship survive?

Benedict Cumberbatch (49) and Olivia Colman (51) worried about their longstanding friendship while shooting the divorce comedy “Die Rosenschlacht”, which is now coming to the cinema. He was “slightly traumatized”, said Cumberbatch jokingly from the German Press Agency. At first they would have had a lot of fun. “But then it got pretty dark.”

Colman confirmed: “I threw things after him and insulted him with all sorts of words and he said:” Can we just check whether everything is still okay between us? “”.

Cumberbatch (“Doctor Strange”) and Colman (“The Crown”) play a couple whose happy family life gets out of the track when Theo gets into a crisis and his wife Ivy, on the other hand.

Dispute until the scraps fly

In the end, the scraps fly – which the two British actors also enjoyed. “It’s always nice if you can let everything out and be able to behave badly,” says Cumberbatch.

Colman agrees: “That also has a cleaning effect!” Even the tears on the film set can get something off. “If you could all spend one day with it just to cry and be paid for it, you would just feel great the next day.”

But how can a relationship be saved by the ups and downs of everyday life? The two stars also have tips for this. “Pay attention to each other, be nice to each other and thank the other,” advises Colman. After all, every important and valuable work does in a relationship.

Cumberbatch refers to phases in which there are upheavals in everyday family life: “You have to be particularly careful and be careful.”

“The rose battle” starts on August 28th in the cinema. The mixture of comedy and drama is a remake of the fabric from the classic “The Rose War” (1989) with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner.
