The new season of the RTL show will mark a turning point: veteran Frank Buschmann takes a seat for the last time in the commentator chair. He felt a “form of fatigue”.
Commentator Frank Buschmann (60) says goodbye to the RTL show “Ninja Warrior Germany”. The upcoming season of the format, in which athletes have to master complex course, will be his last, as he said to the German Press Agency.
Bottrop Buschmann has been part of the “Ninja Warrior” team since the first broadcast of the popular obstacle show in 2016, which also includes co-commentator Jan Köppen and reporter Laura Wontorra.
“The tenth season will actually be my last! I thought about it for a long time, then I came to the conclusion that it is the right decision for me personally,” said “Buschi” of the dpa. “I always had a feel in my life when I would like to do something different/new.” In ten seasons, he accompanied the show, which he always felt as his baby, with passion.
Reasons for the farewell
“Finally, however, I felt a form of fatigue that does not do justice to my idea of accompanying such a format,” the commentator explained his decision. “At some point it is simply time to set new stimuli. I’ll do that.” The program will continue to live and he wishes the entire crew “at least” ten more seasons. No TV production in which he was involved was “done with so much dedication and love by everyone involved.” That will certainly stay that way.
As a general farewell to television, Buschmann does not want to understand his step. “I don’t stop on TV, I will just do other things, as I always did in the job. Let’s be surprised,” he said. The TV man is also known as a sports commentator in football, basketball and football. In February, for example, he extended his collaboration with Pay TV channel Sky.
Start of the new season on September 19th
The new season “Ninja Warrior Germany” – again with Buschmann on the micro – starts on September 19 (a week earlier on RTL+) at RTL. Athletes will jump, move and climb again to reach the end of an extremely challenging course. The competition this year “stronger than ever”, says RTL.
Since it is the tenth season and thus an anniversary, extraordinary new elements are also planned: for example, the special “The direct way to the final”, which is broadcast immediately after the seven preliminary rounds. There is the special rule that can only be passed. Many athletes of past seasons are also said to return for the anniversary.
