“Although we are of course also disappointed with today’s decision, we will not be discouraged,” said the Menendez family in a statement. “The process for probation is exceptionally strict, but we are incredibly proud of how Erik and Lyle showed themselves – with honesty, responsibility and integrity.”
The probation commission praised Lyle Menendez for showing “potential to change”. However, persistent “anti -social personality traits” were also criticized. Both brothers are also said to have repeatedly violated prison rules and have used forbidden mobile phones behind bars.
