Olivia Colman simply put her Oscar in a damp closet. Your craftsman had to save the golden trophy.
For Hollywood star Olivia Colman (51), the biggest dream of every acting person came true: for her role of Queen Anne in “The Favourite” she was drawn as the best leading actress with an Oscar. However, the golden trophy was not proud of the fireplace or the shelf – but in a damp closet.
“I don’t show anything at home … I think that’s a bit boastful,” Colman explains her attitude. And further: “He was in a closet in our living room, but we discovered that the closet is a bit damp.” The family lives in an old house from 1600, which is beautiful, but is also moist.
It was only of a friend of a friend that the valuable piece was not exactly stored. “He opened the closet and said: ‘Are you kidding me? You know that it is damp here?'” Says Colman amused. “So he forced me to take him out, and now he is on a bookshelf, but behind a book so I know that he is there and I can say ‘hello’ to him.”
Grateful for the late fame
However, the actress is very grateful for her late career: “I think it was great in the early years not to work as much because it made me very grateful for work. And I think it’s better than being very successful.” Colman became internationally known in the third season of “The Crown” 2019 through her role as Queen Elizabeth II before she received the Oscar for “The Favourite”. When she held the gold boys in her hands, she was 45 years old.
The 51-year-old can currently be seen on the big screen again. In “The Roses” she plays alongside Benedict Cumberbatch (49) in a new interpretation of the classic “The Rose War” from 1989. Her husband Ed Sinclair, with whom she has been married since 2001 and has three children, acts as the film producer.
