The new Mallorca drama “Fall for Me” with Svenja Jung and Theo Trebs on Netflix is globally successful. Is the film good where a vacation flirt develops into a nightmare?

Mallorcan sun, fantastic fincas, cool drinks, unexpected seduction, hot sex and bad machinations: These are the components of the summer drama “Fall for Me” at Netflix. In the first four days (21st to 24th August), the erotic thriller with Svenja Jung and Theo Trebs in the main roles worldwide gained 16.5 million calls, as can be seen from the new Netflix weekly charts.

The erotic drama of the director Sherry Hormann (65) has conquered first place last week on the list of non-English-language Netflix films, the streaming service announced. In 37 countries, the film ended up in first place (including Germany, Austria and Switzerland, but also Italy, the Netherlands, Lebanon, Brazil and Colombia). The film landed in the top ten of the week in more than 90 countries.

When the self -confident auditor Lilli (Svenja Jung) visits her impulsive, younger sister (Tijan Marei) in Mallorca, unexpected things happen. She learns about the hasty engagement with a Frenchman (Victor Meutelet) and the future plans of the couple, which they too affect. And Lilli gets to know a mysterious German Barmann (Theo Trebs) in a club with which it crackles tremendously and threatens to fall in love with.

Svenja Jung (32) once became known with the RTL-Seifenoper “Unter Uns”, played episode trolleys in crime series such as “The Alte” and had the double-headed role in the ZDF series “The Palace”. She also participated in streaming hits such as “Sam-a Saxon” (Disney+) or “Crooks” (Netflix).

Theo Trebs (30) was once a child star (“Hexe Lilli – The Dragon and the Magical Book”, “The White Band – A German Children’s History”). He often appeared in crime series as villain-for example in the Cologne-“crime scene: the attraction of evil” or in the ZDF series “A case for two”.

In this thriller, which also revolves around the value of a property inherited from the mother on Mallorca, the two German drama stars are proven to be in the scene in young and trebs in a delightful environment. There are various sex scenes – impressively staged, for example on a balcony, on the beach, in the kitchen.

The act of the erotic thriller leaves some disappointment in some. Too clichéd, predictable and simple, all of this was all, only the beautiful pictures of the popular holiday island of Mallorca let you stay tuned.

Some supporting roles are occupied by prominent performers, such as Antje Traue and Thomas Kretschmann (Kretschmann with Schnäuzer and Jovial Art works here more often like Götz George, who died in 2016).

Director of “madman is male”

The renowned director Hormann (“madman is male”, “men like us”, “old country”) made the film from May 2024 on Mallorca based on the script by Stefanie Sycholt. Production company was Wiedemann & Berg Film.

The producers of “Dark”

The more than 170 productions that have already been created under the direction of the two managing directors and producers Quirin Berg and Max Wiedemann include, for example, the first German Netflix original “Dark”, the cult series “4 Blocks” as well as cinema hits such as “The Life of the others” and “work without author”.

According to Netflix, with more than 300 million paying subscribers, Netflix is one of the largest entertainment services worldwide.
