Media: 3sat pensioner Scobel continues on YouTube

Moderator Gert Scobel continues his YouTube channel actually set by 3sat – with the old name. He is revived in a new position and by Scobel as a pensioner who has recently been the 66-year-old. It should start on September 4th at youtube.com/@gertscobelytube.

Scobel, who lives at Frankfurt am Main, is supported by Friedrich Küppersbusch’s production company Probono in Cologne.

“Working with Friedrich Küppersbusch-hero of my early years-and his team is of course a gift and the beginning of a wonderful friendship,” says Scobel of the German Press Agency. “I think we complement each other very well. There will be something of it.”

“Keep on, that’s cool”

Scobel says about his new channel on YouTube: “The craziest may be that the most recent mass medium does not necessarily count what is now considered inevitable in the television channels: that you have to be young, hip and at least with one property.”

That he continues to be because “mostly young people spoke and said:” Make it, that’s cool – that brings me something. “” Via YouTube, he can pass on what he has worked out for years and further, says Scobel – “above all to the younger generation, but also to all boomers who are interested in it”.

“What I want is good old education”

Scobel emphasizes: “YouTube himself knows that the platform only works sustainably when it comes to not just car repairs, cosmetics or cinema tips. What I want is good old education.”

Basically, he does what the order of public law is (education, education, background information, science), says Scobel. He is now doing this “in a hard non-open-open environment”: “Let’s see what will become of it.”

Scobel was one of the well-known faces of the German-Austrian-Swiss cultural broadcaster 3sat for decades. The studied theologian volunteered at Hessischer Rundfunk. The journalist is known to be able to deal with questions of history, scientific theory and ethics.

Scobel stood for programs such as “Kulturzeit” and “Nano”

From 1995 the Aachen-born was a moderator of the Working 3sat magazine “Kulturzeit”. Later he was a co-founder of the 3sat science magazine “Nano” and also Anchorman of the ARD “Morgenmagazin”.

He received numerous TV awards and is a professor of philosophy and interdisciplinarity at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. Scobel is also active in the program management of the Phil.Cologne (the International Festival of Philosophy in Cologne).

For years, Scobel had a program named after him. Most recently, he won many new fans with the philosophically oriented YouTube channel “Scobel”, who devoted himself to social and scientific questions and received the audience award of the Grimme online awards in 2022.

This summer, the Scobel, born in 1959, retired at 3SAT – or ZDF.
