Bully Herbig’s return to the Wild West obviously hits the nerve of the cinema audience. The comedy “The Canu des Manitu” has now reached the two million visitor brand.
“The Canu des Manitu” by Michael Bully Herbig broke the two million visitor brand almost two weeks after the theatrical release. This is announced by Constantin Film in Munich. Accordingly, the two million were reached on Tuesday evening. That is a “huge success”.
On the second weekend after the theatrical release, a good 760,000 tickets were sold. Last Saturday alone, around 240,000 people had watched the film. That was as many visitors as in no other day since the comedy started on August 14, writes Constantin Film.
The film is the continuation of the surprise success “The Schuh des Manitu” from 2001. In “The Canoe of Manitu” Abrituhachi (Michael Herbig) and Ranger (Christian Tramitz) celebrate a quarter of a century of blood brothers. They get into many wild west again and have to find a legendary canoe that magical powers are said to be said. Abahachi’s twin brother Winnetouch, Sky du Mont as villain Santa Maria and Rick Kavanian as Dimitri are also there.
“The canoe of the Manitu” had a top start at the box office. In the first four days alone, 800,000 tickets were sold. In recent years, very few German productions have managed to put such start numbers. The predecessor film “The Shoe des Manitu” watched even more people in 2001 – around 950,000.
