Harald Schmidt has a tip for everyone who wears emigration plans: first check the location on site. He has already done it himself – with the “dream ship”.
Harald Schmidt (68) does not want to emigrate. “I stay here because someone has to make the light out,” said the entertainer of the German Press Agency in Cologne. He often heard the sentence from high -earners at grill parties: “If this continues, we are gone.” Then he always ask: where should it go? Popular destinations are Norway, Canada and Singapore.
“I was in all three, check -up with the” dream ship “,” says Schmidt. “What you can say: In all three, there is uninhibited enthusiasm at the idea that Germans come.”
In the ZDF series “The Dream Ship”, the trained theater actor Schmidt has been embodied by the head of the cruise director Oskar Schifferle since 2008.
He recommends that they will briefly check the conditions on site. “At Canada there is already the question: east coast, west coast? Are there a few kilometers in between. Singapore lies on the equator, 80 percent humidity plus the mosquitoes. And in Norway you should have something financially on the edge.”
“Where’s it going better?”
It doesn’t pull him into the distance. “I think Germany is great. Where is it going better? You always have to see the overall package: the rule of law, climate, earthquake, forest fires, dengue fever … I would be happy to take opinions where it is supposedly great. Good trip!”
The Swabian Schmidt native has been living in Cologne for many years, a city that, according to a recent survey, has to deal with major traffic problems, housing shortages and littering. “I would confirm the facts, but it doesn’t bother me,” he said. “You have to see that positively: a visit to the Cologne main station saves an adventure holiday.”
