Janni’s Niewöhner tells about his synchronous roll in “Gangster Gang 2” and reveals why he was amazed by his mother.
The “Gangster Gang” is back: In addition to Sebastian Bezzel (54) as Mr. Wolf and Max Giermann (49) as Professor Malmalade, Jannis Niewöhner (33) also returns as a German voice of Mr. Piranha. The animal gang gets to do with a group of crooks in “Gangster Gang 2” (cinema release: August 28). In an interview with Spot on News, Jannis Niewöhner raves about his “wonderful comeback” as a small but very spirited member of the gang. “It is always too fast when you are in the synchronized studio. I only spent two or three days there, but it’s so much fun.” For him, the synchronized change is a welcome change because it is “so different compared to what I do. Of course it also has to do with the fact that I slip into a character, but not in front of the camera, but in the synchronized studio and without other colleagues who are in my close proximity or with them.”
Jannis Niewöhner: This is how he brings Mr. Piranha to life
His figure in the second part of the animated film “Merly continues. The energetic nature of his role also brings with it some challenges. “There is a lot of shouting (laughs). And it is not always only text with Mr. Piranha, but a lot of noise that he makes.” But Nomewöhner got along well with the challenge: “I think it is, as with all things that are fun. Then they are not so exhausting.”
The fact that he focuses on things has developed primarily through his job. His mother recently told him “that she was amazed because I was very bad at school and couldn’t concentrate. When she watched me on the set, she was completely off the socks and said:” Who is the guy? Why can he concentrate? Why is he so quiet? (laughs).
Actors waived space adventure
His personal skill, which he would bring into a gangster gang, would therefore be “just loving what I do and therefore easy to go through it and just have fun. Small gangster moments have certainly already existed in his own life, “but being a gangster is that you can only talk about it to a limited extent …”
Surprisingly, the gangster gang is also on a space adventure at the end of the second part. Would that be something for the actor in view of space tourism? “No, I don’t necessarily have to go. I think there are still so many places to discover. Then I prefer to look at ‘interstellar’ or something, that’s enough for me.”
Animation films always arouse childhood memories. However, his first film as a child was not an animated film, but the feature film “Amy and the Wild Geese” from 1996, says Niewöhner. His all-time favourite films also include the baseball drama “Winning Art-Moneyball” with Brad Pitt. “The film is about letting go and looking forward to what you do. Not going through life and just running after a thing or an ideal, but enjoying and living.”
Jannis Niewöhner: What does he say about AI use in the synchronous area?
Niewöhner would like to devote himself more often to the synchronized speak, which he discovered through the first “Gangster Gang” film. “I hope. I want to officially apply for further animated films (laughs). It is simply a good balance to what else I do and I really enjoy it.” And what does he think of the development that voice actors could be replaced by artificial intelligence? “Of course you could have made this film with a AI voice. You could have an entire film made by the AI. But it only uses what was already there. If people do it, then something new is always created and there is something personal. There is something personal. There is a force that a AI simply cannot achieve. A strength and heart with which people really want to connect, less with a story that was somehow before.”
