You want to play several Germany shows

In an interview, Benji and Joel Madden from Good Charlotte reveal their tour plans for 2026 and explain why they love Germany.

Good Charlotte published “Motel du Cap” a few weeks ago, their first album for seven years. Now they first play isolated shows before they want to go on a world tour in 2026. It has not yet been officially announced, but there are already concrete plans. “Germany is at the top of the list,” says lead singer Joel Madden (46) in an interview with Spot on News. Together with twin brother Benji Madden, he talks about how tour life has changed for you and whether you can imagine giving concerts at 70 years.

You have only recently released your first album in seven years. How was that for you?

Joel Madden: It feels great. We were very happy to finally publish it, and it feels good that it is now outside. It is nice that Good Charlotte are back together, play a few shows and prepare for a world tour. It’s great to be together again.

So a world tour. How big will you become and will you also come to Germany?

Joel: Germany is at the top of our list. It is one of the most beautiful places we can play. We definitely come, hopefully even several times. Germany concerts are firmly planned, we are really looking forward to it.

How do you experience the German audience?

Joel: It’s really great. People just seem to understand us. We have always had a really good connection to our German fans. Concerts are fun with them, the shows are great. Whenever we are in Germany, we have the feeling that everything runs smoothly.

Benji Madden: We love Germany – also because the tours there is so pleasant. You can find good food everywhere, there are beautiful places, people are friendly and you feel welcome. That is why Germany is always a highlight on a world tour.

To what extent has your tour routine changed since the early days?

Joel: She changed a lot. We have become calmer, more focused and do less party. It is not the same as you used to be after the concert, almost wanted to kill and celebrate for almost time.

Benji: Yes, we no longer do that today (laughs).

Joel: Today it says: Playing the show, resting, and getting up fit the next day.

You will soon be celebrating your 30th anniversary. What motivates you to continue?

Benji: We only took a long break. That was good for us. But there is something about the whole thing that you can’t loosen from. The band is part of life – it would feel strange to stop.

Joel: In recent years we have focused on completely different things, on areas where we didn’t even know that we had to work on it. We have further developed our shows and are now better than ever. In the past we just got out on the stage and did our best. Now everyone works on themselves and their performance. We continue to expand our live show, which motivates me to surpass me again and again. And we know that we will not give hundreds of concerts. Therefore, every show has to be something special. We want everyone to experience ten appearances, especially a few appearances in the next three years. We want to make these shows unforgettable – not only because fans invest their money and time, but also because of our band’s legacy.

Where will the trip for Good Charlotte go in the coming years?

Benji: We want to continue to treat the whole thing as something. We won’t publish too much, but we will regularly. People should notice: if we do something, then because it is important to us.

Joel: We look forward to going on tour with the new album and writing the next one.

Can you imagine standing on stage at 70 years old?

Joel: To be honest, not. But I couldn’t have imagined to be on stage at the age of 46. So I can’t say it. I don’t think I will still appear at the age of 70, but never say. Who knows, maybe I am a kind of cyborg or something by then. Who knows what’s coming?
