With her new film, the US actress is on the Lido for the first time. She has no time for Markusplatz and gondola ride.
Hollywood star Julia Roberts complained about a program that was too full when she first appeared at the Film Festival in Venice. Before the premiere of her new film “After the Hunt”, the 57-year-old joked at the usual press conference that she had just booked a tour of the lagoon city. “And now I’m here.”
Roberts (“Pretty Woman”, “Notting Hill”) had already shot in Venice earlier, but has never been part of the festival.
At such festivals, the big stars are usually an appointment for the big stars. At the premiere, it goes on the red carpet in front of the festival palace. When she arrived with the water taxi, the actress was cheered.
Venice – a dream that has become true
The crossing from her hotel to the Lido, where the festival takes place, was “so incredible”, she said. Venice is “one of the most inexplicable and unimaginable places you can imagine. What does it do here? It is like a dream that has become true.”
“After the Hunt” runs outside of the competition in Venice. The film comes to German cinemas in October. Roberts plays the leading role: a German-born philosophy professor at the US elite university Yale, who gets into difficulties at work and in private life.
