The ex-Commissioner Rex wants more dialects on television and calls unit jargon a “horror”. Why regional language is so important to him and what he criticizes in TV German.
Actor Tobias Moretti (66) increasingly misses regional language coloring on German television. “I suffer from the fact that on the one hand dialects, and on the other hand the high language in such a unit jargon are flattened, this reality TV German. A horror,” said the Austrian in a “star” interview.
Dialect is generally extremely important to him as a Tyrolean. “Especially when you have to do with literary high language, you learn to appreciate the nuances of the dialect.”
Moretti, who became known as an investigator in the “Commissioner Rex” TV series in the 1990s, can be seen on September 5 in the improvisation series “Die Wedding” in the ARD. In it he plays a Tyrolean hotelier and also speaks dialect.
Before his acting career, Moretti studied music and composition in Vienna. He also has a diploma as a farmer and lives on a farm in Tyrol.
