A new book about the British monarchy reveals that Queen Camilla is said to have been victims of an attempted sexual assault. She had defended herself against the attacker with the sales of her shoe and finally ensured that the man was arrested, according to “Power and the Palace” by Valentine Low.
Abuse on the train to Paddington
According to a section published in the “Sunday Times”, the wife of King Charles III told. The politician Boris Johnson of the incident when he became mayor of London in 2008. Valentine Low, the author of the book and former royal correspondent of the “Times”, refers to Johnson’s then communication director Guto Harri. The latter said that Camilla and Johnson had “understood” right away at their meeting in the Clarence House. Apparently so good that she told the politician a very personal story from her teenage period because Johnson was planning to open three crisis centers for rape victims in London.
Camilla becomes 78 – from the hated lover to the queen
For her 78th birthday, the palace published this new portrait: Queen Camilla shines for the camera in her private refuge Ray Mill House in Wiltshire. She acquired the country seat in 1996 after her divorce from her first husband Andrew Parker Bowles that he remained a special place for her. The “serious conversation that they had was about the fact that as a schoolgirl she had become victims of attempted sexual assault,” writes Low in the book. And further: “She was on the train to Paddington – she was about 16, 17 – and a guy kept moving his hand … ‘At this point, Johnson asked what happened next. She replied:’ I did what my mother taught me. I took off my shoe and struck him on his eggs. ‘ Harri said: ‘When she arrived in Paddington, she was so caught that she jumped out of the train, looked for a uniformed man and said:’ The man just attacked me ‘and he was arrested.’ “
Camilla is committed to victims of sexual attacks
Queen Camilla has long campaigned against domestic violence and sexual abuse. For example, she organized a reception in Buckingham Palace in 2024 to appreciate the supporters of victims of sexual assault and to celebrate the restart of the WASH bags project, provides the victim of rape and abuse toilet items.
The 78-year-old is also involved in numerous other projects for victims, including Safelives, a charity that is committed to domestic violence. In 2024 she appeared in the television documentary “Her Majesty the Queen: Behind Closed Doors”, who accompanied the queen to raise awareness of domestic and sexual violence. In a speech at an event of “Women of the World”, Camilla 2021 condemned the “culture of silence” that promotes abuse and prevents victims from revealing himself.
