Shortly before his 90th birthday on September 5th, Dieter Hallervorden looked back on difficult times in his life in an interview. He revealed how much his third wife, Christiane Zander, supports him. “She saved me when I had suicide plans,” he said in an interview with “Bild” with clear words.

Dieter Hallervorden: “In many moments she is also my magnet for life”

The two have been a couple for ten years and married since 2022. “She fully flared up my lust for life,” said Hallervorden. Thanks to her, he was “a new person and looks at life very differently”. He also spoke openly about his depression. “In many moments it is also my magnet for life, especially in the dark.” So she brought him to a clinic and “preserved from stupidities”.

In the past, he often took life for granted. But thanks to Christiane Zander, he would like to appreciate “to wake up in the morning”. In the meantime, he believes it is excluded to become depressed again. “Only if I have to reverse a role shortly before the premiere or pass other unforeseen things rattles the carousel. But then I use a trick. I take over the breathing rhythm of Christiane, which usually falls to sleep within seconds. That helps me enormously.”
