He was known as an actor, singer and showmaster: A place in Berlin-Charlottenburg is now reminiscent of Juhnke’s moving life between shine, alcohol and large moments of stage.
He was one of the most formative faces of the Berlin entertainment: Harald Juhnke (1929–2005) was also celebrated nationwide as an actor, singer and showmaster. Now the native of Berlin is given a special honor: a central place in Berlin-Charlottenburg now bears its name.
Harald-Juhnke-Platz is located at the Kurfürstendamm, Grolmanstrasse and Uhlandstrasse intersection, right next to the Ku’damm stages-a place that is closely linked to Juhnke’s artistic work. The ruling mayor of Berlin, Kai Wegner (CDU), said that the Juhnkes life’s life should be recognized. In addition, a visible sign of the close connection of the city is set with the square with Harald Juhnke. The square is to be officially opened at the end of September.
MultiTalent from Charlottenburg
Juhnke, who was born in Charlottenburg, is still considered one of the largest entertainer in Germany. For around five decades he was one of the formative figures in the entertainment industry in theater and on German television. As a voice actor, he lent numerous Hollywood greats. He was closely connected to the theater scene in the west of Berlin. Juhnke, who repeatedly got into the headlines through his alcohol consumption, died of dementia in April 2005.
