Depardieu should go to court for rape allegations

In May, Gérard Depardieu was convicted of sexual attacks. Now the French actor should appear again in court.

French actor Gérard Depardieu is said to answer for rape allegations in Paris. As the dpa public prosecutor confirmed, the 76-year-old is accused of sexually abusing actress Charlotte Arnoild against her will through penetration with his fingers.

An investigative judge has decided that the actor must go to the dock in front of the Parisian Criminal Court. Depardieu threatens up to 20 years in prison in the event of a conviction. At first there was no information on the process date. The incidents are said to have occurred in Paris in the actor’s apartment on August 7 and 13, 2018.

The actress, who had reported Depardieu in 2018 just a few days after the alleged acts, made it easier for Instagram: “This is enormous. I am relieved”. She wrote “Horror and Hell” of seven years and thanked her lawyer Carine Durrieu-Diebolt.

Depardieu rejects the allegations and speaks of an amicable relationship. In May, the actor had already been sentenced to 18 months in prison for sexual attacks on two women during the filming of the film “Les Volets Verts” (the green shutters) in 2021. He has appealed against this judgment.
