Kevin Costner mourns the loss of Graham Greene. His co-star from “He dances with the wolf” died after a long illness.
Kevin Costner (70) said goodbye to actor Graham Greene (1952-2025) on the social media. The “Yellowstone” star a famous scene from the joint success film “Who dances with the Wolf” from 1990 to commemorate his late colleague. Greene died last Monday at the age of 73 after a long illness.
“A few things come to my mind when I think of Graham Greene and our time together at ‘Think with the wolf’,” writes Costner in his emotional contribution. He was particularly impressed by Greene’s willingness to learn the Lakota language. “I think of my joy when I heard that his work in the film was recognized with an Oscar nomination.”
“A master of his subject”
Costner particularly emphasizes the scene he shared by post. “I think of this scene in particular, in which he was able to establish so much about the relationship between dark and the indigenous people in particular. He was a master of his field and a wonderful person.” With these words, the 70-year-old not only appreciates Greene’s acting skills, but also his personality.
Greene wanted to contact Kevin Costner shortly before his death. His representative Michael Greene reported that it was the last wish of the dying actor to thank Costner – for the way he had represented the indigenous people in the media over the years. Unfortunately, this attempt to contact us is unsuccessful.
A legacy of recognition
“I am grateful to have been witnessing this part of his lasting legacy. Quiet in peace, Graham,” Costner ends his contribution. The news of the death of the Canadian-Indian actor had only become known a day earlier. Greene, who had received an Oscar nomination as the best supporting actor for his role in “who dances with the wolf”, was considered one of the most important indigenous actors in North America.
