The series also had Bryan Cranston as Malcolm’s father, an actor who later obtained praise from critics as the protagonist of Breaking Bad.


Disney+ confirmed the return of a new series of four episodes in December, following Malcolm, already adult, and his family. Muniz, Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek (who played Malcolm’s mother) also return, although Erik per sullivanwho played the younger brother Dewey, declined to return and has been replaced.

Speaking about the new series in the Podcast Lightweights, Muniz was excited about the experience. “I do not exaggerate to say that filming this reboot loved a lot, much more than I ever imagined”said. “We ended in May and I have not talked to anyone since then, you know? I have been out. I have only been at home, I think, 12 days since the beginning of the year. I am always crazy, and I think that next week I will have time. I will contact (with the rest of the cast).”
Previously in the interview, he talked about what people can expect from the sequel to the original series. “I think people will be surprised, in a sense, where each one and the story are.”Muniz said. “It’s hard to cover 20 years of content in four 30 -minute episodes, right? But I think people will be very happy with what they have created.”
The restart, entitled Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfairis scheduled to be released in December at Disney+.
