The former front man of the legendary indie band The Smiths continues to argue with the band for the rights. Is he going an unusual step now?
According to a post, the former front man of the English rock band The Smiths wants to sell his rights to the band and its music on his Instagram account. The dispute between Morrissey and the other ex-members, which has been going on for decades, has thus reached a new and highly extraordinary highlight for the rights to the band.
The 66-year-old wrote on Instagram. “I have had enough of malignant connections. With my whole life I paid the lawful taxes for these songs and pictures. I would now like to live detached from those who want nothing but evil will and destruction and that is the only solution,” said the Brit.
He added completely with the songs – what no one else could do, he added. But that brings loads with it. “I have to protect myself now, especially my health,” wrote Morrissey. He called on all serious investors to contact him with an email.
Always controversy
Known as Steven Patrick Morrissey, he caused a sensation as a singer of the influential indie band in the 1980s. Four albums released The Smiths in four years: “The Smiths” (1984), “Meat is Murder” (1985), “The Queen Is Dead” (1986) and “Strangeways, Here We Come” (1987). Everyone is considered classics today and are characterized by their timeless sound and a certain melancholy.
Morrissey wrote the songs with his congenial partner, guitarist Johnny Marr. The now deceased bassist Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce completed the band. In songs like “This Charming Man”, “How Son is now?” Or “Bigmouth Strikes Again” often treated Smiths socially critical issues and social taboos. The band separated in 1987. For Morrissey, a successful solo career follows, but he always noticed with controversy.
