The Musical Theater Group “Certain Petunias” celebrates 20 years at the Cultural Cooperation Center

Certain Petunias celebrates 20 years of artistic work with your new show “The symposium, nothing is lost is transformed,” which opens on September 14 and occurs on Sundays at 19 at the Cultural Center of Cooperation (CCC).

The presentations of this symposium deal with different branches of knowledge, illustrated by texts and songs in humor. With its four voices and instruments they travel a wide range of musical styles that range from a chacarera to a classic Aryan, through a hit of the Brazilian Axé, Cumbia Classics and several own compositions.

Certain Petunias achieves in each scene the comic that becomes its characters by absurdly traveling a formal academic field. The praised group is made up of Magdalena Barla, Camila Campodónico, Natalia Guevara and Tania Valsecchi And it is a musical theater company that develops its artistic and uninterrupted production activity since 2005. We talked with Magdalena Barla.

Journalist: How does this show around the symposium, the presentations, the enlightened knowledge?

Magdalena Barla: These songs are a compendium of possible knowledge and information to share, in a complicated context for science and technology, then we were going through being able to count from a more academic knowledge, laughing but giving importance to that learning space.

Q.: What will the public find in this new show?

MB: It is a variety of songs of different styles addressed histrionically, there are funny things, things to discover, that perhaps the public did not know, in relation to music in general. There are also acts of mentalism.

Q.: How do you feel that the theatrical scene changed in these 20 years?

MB: The offer is a lot, we have always turned throughout the country and we know, but especially in CABA. The OFF is our circuit, although we were in the Maipo or the Picadero, but we dedicated ourselves to the Independent. Everything grew terribly and of very good quality. It is enriching and great but on the other hand it is a challenge because there is more competition, you have to return to a relevant one to continue being part of the scene and that people choose it.

Q.: What balance can you do of these years of the company? How did they grew up, how did they evolve, what learning and experiences can you rescue?

MB: We started 20 years ago, we grew together for both collective creation and for individual development and as producers and writers of new works. Today this is our own artistic school and allowed us to grow collectively and individually, enhanced us to be part of other projects, other spaces, be teachers, produce other musical theatrical events or meetings. It was and is the center of our activity. Among the experiences we can rescue appear the meetings and crosses with wonderful people such as Jorge Campodónico de Les Luthiers, having touched for them, won Hugo awards and being nominated, having crossed with Gabi Goldberg, Ligia Piro, Susana Rinaldi, etc. It always cost us to record music, we did not emphasize it, but we decided to do it with a subject on this anniversary.
